NYC: Searching for Perspective

Saturday, 19. December 2009 4:23

I’m wrapping up some editing in terminal 5 of JFK while I wait on my delayed flight. This trip was a fast one, at times stressful. I didn’t feel like I brought any spectacular images home but what I brought home was a perspective.

I began the trip trying to capture the largeness of the city(above), however, the images seems played out and, quite frankly, I’ve seen better images. Therefore by the end of the trip, I redirected my focus on smaller moments or scenes. The city was overwhelming to try to capture in a few large perspective images. When I realized my perspective on this trip I became aware of aspects of the city that I generally overlooked.

East Texas Fog and Rain

Saturday, 12. December 2009 22:56

I spent this afternoon north of Houston. The change of scenery was pleasant to shoot. The entire time it was rainy, cold and foggy… I couldn’t ask for a better setting.

D700/50mm Test Images

Saturday, 5. December 2009 11:57

Immediately after receiving my new 50mm 1.4d Nikon Lens, I set up some test shots in my living room. The lens has such a shallow depth of field which can get you into trouble when photographing people, but a lot of fun when it is applicable.

Below are some test shots on the new combo. The second set are High ISO images in low lighting outdoor event, the average ISO was around 2000.
